PMO Workshop - Setting up/Scaling up Solid PM Foundations

PMI Minnesota Professional Development Committee is excited to announce & extend an opportunity for PMI Members to participate in the first ever PMO workshop. Organizational leaders are looking for efficiency and business approaches that really add to the bottom line. 

Project Management Offices (PMOs) emerge as a catalyst to deliver strategic initiatives to their organizations. In this workshop, the speakers will provide a successful PMO framework equipped with solid project management foundations.

A PMO, short for project management office, is a department within an organization or an external service, responsible for creating, maintaining, and implementing policies and procedures for project management throughout the organization. They may also provide training and guidance to other departments in project management. Implementing solid project management and PMO processes are required to deliver value to organizations.  

In this workshop, participants will learn about the:

  • The PMO Business Case
  • Strategy and planning alignment
  • Evaluation and Diagnosis of the PMO
  • Analysis of the PMO maturity
  • PMO Services Catalog Creation
  • The PMO Implementation Plan
  • Effective leadership
  • Emotional Intelligence - will be discussed as tool to increase the PMO stakeholder engagement and leadership

In this 4 hours exclusive workshop by two great speakers, Dr. Tony Prensa & Dave Harry, will elaborate on each PMO process listed above.

    Dave Harry is CEO of Process Whisperer® Consultants LLC, a boutique process improvement consulting firm. He is an independent PMO, Lean Six Sigma, Team Dynamics and Toyota Kata consultant, Dave teaches and lectures on PMOs, process improvement, project management and Toyota Kata classes throughout the US and internationally. His leadership and teaching experience includes with the Univ of Tennessee, Rolls-Royce Energy, Northrop Grumman, KMPG Consulting, among others. He completed his U.S. Navy career as a Naval Aviator, International Defense Cooperation Agreements Negotiator and as a U.S. Defense Attache. He is active on boards and leadership positions with ASQ, IISE, and on the Strategic Advisory Board of the Project Management Office Global Institute DPMO-GIO. Dave is a PMI certified PMP®, has Lean Bronze Certification DLBCD, is a Certified Scrum Master DCSM®D. He is also a PMO-GI Certifed Baseline PMO Consultant DCB-PMO®0 and Authorized Business Partner Instructor DABPI®D.     Seasoned business executive and leader of Project Management Office 0PMOD, Information systems, technologies, and project management combines a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a major in Information Systems and Technologies, Certified Project Management Professional 0PMPD, Authorized Business Partner Instructor DPMOGID, Certified-Baseline PMO Consultant Certification and ITILf certification with extensive experience managing and overseeing large portfolios/programs/projects, setting up/scale up project management offices, strategic planning, and seamless IT implementations. Adept at reengineering business processes and IT infrastructure with business visions to drive profitability, efficiency and growth within the organization. Proficient at ensuring all processes comply with regulatory requirements and IT governance practices. Excellent communicator and critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage team members and external business contacts, including consultants and vendors. Dr. Prensa is also a Certified Advanced Facilitator and professor of project management for various distinct universities in the country.

Cancellation Policy

This event is hosted professional development committee, held for the benefit of its members. The registration fee paid is based on the registrant's ability to commit to attendance, ahead of time. The registration fee will not be refunded for any reason, other than event cancellation, after normal business hours (5:00 PM, Central) on the registration deadline day. The PMI - Minnesota Chapter Professional Development Committee reserves the right to make last-minute changes to program content and speakers, as circumstances dictate.
