As project managers, how do we engage with each other on a global scale and ensure that we are keeping DE&I at the forefront of our interactions?

 

In this interactive and reflective learning space Jason Jackson and Jason Bucklin will offer tools to help us focus on maintaining diversity and creating an inclusive organization by practicing humility, courage, and accountability. We will cover topics including but not limited to the impacts of bias, microaggression, racism and other systems of oppression, while providing strategies to strengthen our cultural lenses.

Jason Jackson

Jason serves as a HR Diversity and Inclusion Consultant for HealthPartners. He holds a M.A. in Organizational Leadership and Policy Development and B.A. in Communications Studies from the University of Minnesota. Jason has served as the director of the Lealtad-Suzuki (Multicultural) Center in the Department of Multicultural Life at Macalester College, where he led programmatic efforts centered on social justice that promoted the growth and development of students and the institution. He’s written curriculum on race and identity and taught courses in the U of M’s Leadership Studies department and served the assistant director of the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) for Queer and Trans Life where his work centered supporting students of color, and enhancing educational efforts for staff, faculty, students, and outreach across the University. Jason co-founded the group Tongues Untied, an educational and community building space for Queer and Trans BIPOC, and also cofounded the Annual Upper Midwest Queer and Trans BIPOC Conference, now in its 5th year has a mission to create a revolutionary loving and learning space where minoritized community members can celebrate their struggles, rediscover their magic, and thrive together. Jason lives with his partner in North Minneapolis with their two dogs. When he’s not out being a - self described rabble rousing diva - Jason spends much of his time reading, woodworking and growing vegetables in his garden for family and friends.

Jason Bucklin

Jason Bucklin (he/him) has worked with LGBTQ youth and adults for 19 years in the Twin Cities and is currently the first LGBTQ Education Specialist at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Prior to MDE Jason was the LGBTQ Program Coordinator at Minneapolis Public Schools and worked to create some of the first Gender Inclusive school policies in the nation as well as helped the development of the Minnesota Department of Education Transgender Toolkit. With a passion for racial equity and gender justice, Jason hopes that his work can positively impact the LGBTQ community. Outside of his work at MDE, Jason is a photographer with a focus on highlighting the LGTBQ community.
