Virtual Panel Discussion

The PMI Minnesota chapter proudly recognizes the month of March and the International Women’s day, with a panel discussion of four accomplished female project managers, along with a moderator.  The event will open with introductions of the panel members with their profile and experience.

A one hour discussion of the panel members will follow, about their journey in their career in management, with insights and sharing their experiences engaging the audience. The panel discussion will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with the panelists.

Geraldine Marks

Geraldine Marks, President, CEO and board director for Project Management Institute MN Chapter, is an influencer, a consultative program/project management professional with years of multi-industry experience. An AI Catalyst.

Geraldine has a track record of improving processes, excellent client relationship management, and successful delivery of value-based outcomes on budget and within timeline. A change advocate and driver, Geraldine is recognized for her coaching, training and mentoring skills with ability to effectively interface across all levels.

 

Sara Swanson

 

Sara Swanson is the Senior Director, PMO at Hitachi Solutions. Sara is the PMI Global Region 2 Mentor for 21 Chapters in North Central, North America. Sara is passionate about giving back to her profession by being a part of and assisting PMI leadership to implement positive changes across the organization. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certified, with 24 years of experience in PMO and Project/Program management leadership.

Sara’s recent professional experience includes leading Hitachi Solutions North America through a PMO Transformation and Rebuild, and Advising on Global PMO and a Global Operating Model. She has led organizations through multiple acquisitions and changes, and have the ability to understand the need for, communicate, and drive change through organizations while navigating complex political environments.

 

Karen Fomafung

 

 

Karen Fomafung, the founder of BeingAgile Consullting LLC  is a seasoned Agile Project Management professional with over 13 years of industry experience, holding certifications as an Agile Project Management professional, coach, author, and mentor. She specializes in simplifying complex concepts to propel teams toward their project management goals. An advocate for diversity and inclusion, Karen has created a substantial online presence of over 50,000 on social media. Her impactful presence extends to inspiring and educating the Agile project management community.

Her book, "From Day One to Success: A Step-by-Step Guide for Scrum Masters Joining a New Organization," has empowered countless Agile Project Management Practitioners to navigate their new roles and make meaningful contributions successfully.

 

Roopa Chandrasekaran

 

A highly experienced, proven med tech leader, Roopa has extensive background in strategy implementation designed to streamline operations, drive development and delivery of innovative products. She is skilled in using data-driven decision-making to improve performance and customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and promote innovation. Adept at managing cross-functional teams toward meeting project and program deliverables, Roopa is also skilled at championing product ideas, new concepts, and industry best practices.

During her 25+ year professional journey, she has gained valuable experience in strategic long-range planning, program/portfolio  and operating plan management. What she enjoys most about being a leader is the opportunity to organize, build, mentor, and develop teams with diverse perspectives. These skills and passions have been critical in her roles as president for her homeowner’s association, and a volunteer leader for breast cancer awareness events among the Asian community. She currently is a board member for FFEN (Foundation for essential needs) an organization addressing issues of hunger and food insecurity in our community.  She is not only an enthusiastic hiker and traveler but also a dedicated blogger and vlogger, chronicling her adventures alongside friends to inspire women to embrace the the great outdoors.

Roopa holds an MBA from the PSG Institute of Management, an MS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering.
